Requirements Traceability Matrix
Requirements Traceability Matrix
Requirements traceability is the ability to follow the life of a requirement, in both forward and backward direction, i.e. from its origin, to its refinement and inclusion in the requirement specification document, and from there to its subsequent deployment in coding, testing and validation. Requirement traceability matrix ensures that:
Requirements are prioritized,
Requirements are examined for system impact,
Requirements are uniquely numbered - Only after the product is validated against the requirements can the Project team verifies that the product is delivered according to specification,
Requirements can be traced forward and backward, i.e. Traces the origin of the requirements, and identify how they are fulfilled; how they are tested; and what impact will result if they are changed.
